A Moroccan woman named Khadija Diob has firmly refuted allegations suggesting that she was detained or restricted during her time in Nigeria. In a recent video shared on the verified Facebook page of prominent Kaduna-based Islamic scholar Dr. Ahmad Gumi, Diob clarified that she has returned to Morocco, where she is now safe and enjoying her freedom alongside her family. She emphasized her good health, both physically and mentally, contrasting the claims made by her estranged husband, Nasir, regarding her supposed captivity.
In her own words, Diob stated, "I went back to Morocco six months ago. Now I’m in Morocco with my family safely and I enjoy my freedom." She expressed that the assertions made by Nasir about her being detained are entirely false. While she acknowledged having experienced confinement during her time with him, she conveyed gratitude for her current state of well-being.
Relationship with Dr. Ahmad Gumi and the Circumstances Surrounding Her Marriage
Diob elaborated on her relationship with Dr. Gumi and his family, recounting how they became acquainted after she and her mother were introduced to him by Nasir. She explained that Nasir viewed Gumi as a mentor who had significantly aided him in challenging times and described him as a father figure. During their visit, her mother entrusted her to Gumi, requesting that he be her guardian in Nigeria, as she had no other support system. This bond became pivotal when Diob found herself in a medical crisis and sought Gumi's assistance when Nasir refused to take her to the hospital.
Furthermore, Diob revealed that Gumi intervened at various points to mediate between her and Nasir, even providing financial support to alleviate their domestic challenges. Ultimately, she decided to file for divorce through her lawyer, citing alleged harm. Diob accused Nasir of misrepresenting his lifestyle and financial standing prior to their marriage, stating that he had made false claims about his circumstances. She reflected on the conditions agreed upon before their marriage, including the expectation of separate accommodations from his first wife, which were not met upon her arrival in Nigeria.
Expressing gratitude, Diob thanked Dr. Gumi and his family for their support during her difficult times in Nigeria.
