King Mohammed VI Celebrates Eid al-Adha in Rabat

Royal Observance of Eid al-Adha in Rabat

On the morning of Wednesday, May 27, 2026, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, performed the Eid al-Adha prayer at the Mosque of Ahl Fes in the prestigious neighborhood of Mechouar in Rabat. He was accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, and His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Ahmed. The royal procession commenced from the royal palace in Rabat, attracting a significant crowd of citizens eager to join the King in celebrating this important religious occasion and to express their congratulations and loyalty.

Upon arrival at the mosque, His Majesty was greeted by a ceremonial display from the Royal Guard, which paid its formal respects before the Eid prayer commenced in a profoundly spiritual atmosphere. During the sermon, the preacher emphasized the religious and spiritual significance of Eid al-Adha as a time that embodies the values of sacrifice, altruism, and generosity, invoking the story of Prophet Ibrahim and his son Ismail, may peace be upon them, highlighting their exemplary obedience and faith.

The preacher, along with the congregation, prayed to God Almighty to protect the Commander of the Faithful, grant him good health, and bring joy to him through his heir, Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, while also ensuring the support of his brother, Prince Moulay Rachid. They prayed for the entire noble royal family and lifted their hands in supplication for mercy and forgiveness for the late Kings Mohammed V and Hassan II, may God bless their souls.

Following the Eid prayer, heads of accredited Islamic diplomatic missions in the Kingdom came forward to greet His Majesty the King and congratulate him on this joyous occasion. Subsequently, the King performed the ritual sacrifice in accordance with the tradition of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, amidst a festive atmosphere marked by the firing of cannons to celebrate the holiday, while the mosque's imam handled the second sacrificial offering.

At the royal palace, His Majesty received congratulations from Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid, as well as from the Prime Minister, the Presidents of the two Houses of Parliament, the President of the Higher Council of the Judiciary, the Attorney General, leaders of constitutional bodies, and numerous high-ranking civil and military figures.
