On Friday, King Mohammed VI, the Amir Al-Mouminine, was joined by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid, and Prince Moulay Ahmed to observe the blessed Eid Al-Fitr prayer at the Ahl Fès mosque located within the Mechouar in Rabat. This gathering marked a significant occasion, as the King received heartfelt wishes from the citizens who came out in numbers to express their good tidings and share the joy of this festive day, which signifies the culmination of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Royal procession made its way from the Royal Palace in Rabat to the Ahl Fès mosque amidst cheers and applause from the public, eager to celebrate this important event with their sovereign. This show of affection and respect underscores the bond between the monarchy and the Moroccan people, particularly during such a meaningful religious observance.
Spiritual Reflections and Celebrations
Following the Eid prayer, the Imam delivered a sermon emphasizing the spiritual journey undertaken by believers throughout the month of Ramadan. He highlighted the atmosphere of piety, spirituality, and divine blessings that enveloped the faithful. The Imam articulated that this period represents a unique opportunity for spiritual rejuvenation and purification, laden with immense promises of rewards from the Almighty.
The sermon referenced the Divine Word, stating, “The righteous will be in gardens and springs, receiving what their Lord has given them, for they were previously doers of good: they used to sleep little at night and in the hours before dawn, they would seek forgiveness from Allah.” The Imam further noted that the sacred month included a religious vigil held under the auspices of Amir Al-Mouminine in honor of Laylat Al-Qadr, a night deemed superior to a thousand months, during which the initial verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to the Prophet Mohammed, may peace and blessings be upon him.
In concluding his address, the Imam reminded the congregation that Eid is a time of joy and gratitude, encouraging the faithful to thank God for His blessings and to seek acceptance for their fasting, prayers, acts of devotion, and good deeds carried out throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
