Royal Vigil for Laylat Al-Qadr

On March 16, 2026, coinciding with the 26th night of Ramadan 1447 in the Islamic calendar, King Mohammed VI presided over a significant religious vigil at the Royal Palace in Rabat. This event was held in honor of the blessed Laylat Al-Qadr, a night revered for its spiritual significance in the Islamic faith. The solemn ceremony was attended by notable royal family members, including Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid, and Prince Moulay Ahmed.

The evening commenced following the Al-Isha and Taraweeh prayers, during which Idriss Ben Daouia, President of the Local Council of Scholars in Larache, concluded the reading of Sahih Al-Bukhari. This was followed by a recitation of 'Hadith Al Khatm' by Mustapha Zamehna, the President of the Regional Council of Scholars in Béni Mellal-Khénifra. The event also featured a touching recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by 10-year-old Zaid El Bakkali from Salé, who was honored with the King Mohammed VI Prize for memorizing the Quran, highlighting the monarch's commitment to encouraging Quranic memorization among youth.

Honoring Quranic Scholars and Reciters

During the vigil, King Mohammed VI presented the Mohammed VI Prizes for "Ahl Al-Qurâan" and "Ahl Al-Hadith" to Ahmed Talha from Fes and Adnane Zhar from El Jadida, respectively. The King also awarded the Mohammed VI Prize for Quranic schools in three categories, recognizing Abdellatif Jalal from El Youssoufia for learning methodology, Marzouk Ait Amran from Chefchaouen for performance, and Abdellatif Ibouha from Chichaoua for management excellence. Furthermore, the King bestowed the Mohammed VI Prize for the Adhan and Tahlil to Abderrahmane Benbakka from Marrakech for excellence and to Mohamed Battout from Mohammedia for honorific recognition.

The event concluded with heartfelt prayers for the well-being of King Mohammed VI, imploring divine guidance for his initiatives aimed at advancing the aspirations of his loyal people. The attendees also prayed for the souls of the late Sovereigns, King Mohammed V and King Hassan II, asking for God’s mercy upon them. This significant gathering was attended by various dignitaries, including the head of the government, the presidents of both chambers of parliament, royal advisors, government members, and representatives from the diplomatic corps of Islamic countries accredited in Morocco, along with senior military officers and various civil and military figures.
