Koch Ag & Energy Solutions is making a significant move in the agricultural sector by establishing a 50/50 joint venture with OCP Nutricrops, aimed at bolstering its phosphate fertilizer operations in Morocco. Announced on July 17, this partnership will see Koch invest in the Jorf Fertilizers Company I, which operates a state-of-the-art phosphate fertilizer facility located in Jorf Lasfar, Morocco. This facility boasts an impressive production capacity of up to 1.2 million metric tons annually, contributing to the companies' collective production capabilities.
The strategic alliance between Koch and OCP Nutricrops is expected to enhance supply reliability, offering additional phosphate-based fertilizers to customers across North America, a vital market for agricultural inputs. This venture is particularly timely, as it coincides with the recent suspension of countervailing duties on Moroccan phosphate fertilizer imports by the U.S. administration, opening new avenues for U.S. farmers.
