KulturBUNT: A Celebration of Diversity at the Nations Festival in Lemförde
The KulturBUNT festival, a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity, is set to take place for the fourth consecutive year in Lemförde, Germany. Scheduled for August 15, 2026, at 3 PM, this event promises to be a joyous gathering that embraces the rich tapestry of cultures represented in the community. Lemförde is home to residents hailing from approximately 70 different nations, many of whom have established their roots in the area over multiple generations, while others have recently arrived due to conflicts in their home countries over the past decade.
This year's festival will feature participants from five countries: Moldova, Ukraine, Sri Lanka, Morocco, and Turkey's Yazidi community. Attendees can look forward to an array of culinary delights, traditional dances, and musical performances that showcase the incredible cultural variety. From sweet treats offered by Fatima from Morocco, including the famous mint tea and Moroccan salad, to the spicy rice dishes from Benda Yogorathnam representing Sri Lanka, there will be something for every palate.
As part of the festivities, the Ukrainian performers will engage the audience with lively songs, inviting participation and creating a colorful atmosphere. This year marks a special debut for the Moldovans, who will share stories about their homeland, adorned in traditional attire crafted specifically for their appearance in Lemförde. Their booth will also feature hearty Southeast European cuisine, adding to the festival's culinary diversity.
No celebration in Lemförde would be complete without the Görens, who will provide a selection of beverages, including beer and wine, while Tuncay, a local DJ and co-organizer, is expected to keep the energy high. For the younger guests, the festival will once again include a popular bouncy castle, courtesy of Volksbank, ensuring fun for children of all ages. Additionally, a raffle will take place, with proceeds designated for youth and children's events, further emphasizing the festival’s commitment to community engagement.
