La Kéchoise 2026: A 7-Kilometer Journey in Pink Through Marrakech
On Sunday, October 4, over 500 women will participate in the sixth edition of La Kéchoise, kicking off from the iconic Koutoubia square. This event is not just a race; it embodies a spirit of community and solidarity, aligning with the global initiative of Pink October, which raises awareness for breast cancer prevention. With participants coming from around ten different nationalities, this year’s Kéchoise promises to be a vibrant celebration of women’s health and empowerment.
The race will commence at 8:30 AM, covering a scenic 7-kilometer route that showcases several emblematic sites throughout the city, culminating at the Place des Ferblantiers near the historic Badi Palace. Importantly, this event is designed to be inclusive, welcoming women of all fitness levels. Whether you are an experienced runner or prefer to walk, the aim is not about competition but rather about crossing the finish line together, fostering a supportive environment.
A Race with a Public Health Message
La Kéchoise carries a significant public health message behind its vibrant pink bibs. Organized by the association La Kéchoise in collaboration with the non-profit Association du Grand Atlas, the event focuses on raising awareness about breast cancer detection and prevention. The initiative aims to empower women by educating them about the importance of regular screenings and early detection.
The festivities extend beyond the race itself, beginning on Saturday, October 3, with a partner village at Koutoubia square offering free workshops in boxing, taekwondo, Pilates, yoga, and dance, along with various awareness stands and activities. A raffle sponsored by JOMA, the official equipment supplier of the race, adds excitement to the day, and attendees are encouraged to make voluntary donations in support of the partner association.
The celebration kicks off earlier on Friday, October 2, with a launch evening at Au Bédouin in the Agafay Desert, where participants, partners, and guests will gather for a dinner-show starting at 6:30 PM.
This edition of La Kéchoise is proudly sponsored by Moroccan singer Douaa Lahyaoui, who rose to fame in 2019 through The Voice Ahla Sawt. Known for her unique blend of Moroccan sounds with pop and Arabic music, she has captured the hearts of many with her hits such as _Badadi_ and _Belbala_. In 2022, she performed _Allez les_.
