A Sudden Landslide Causes Complete Traffic Disruption

On a recent evening, the road connecting Asni and Imlil towards Marrakech experienced a sudden landslide, resulting in a complete halt of traffic. This incident was triggered by the recent heavy rainfall that the region has been experiencing. According to observations made by the local newspaper, "Jamaal Fna Press," a significant amount of earth and rocks was swept away by the flooding, settling in the middle of the road. This unfortunate event led to several vehicles being trapped, as portrayed in various images, forcing road users to halt for several hours.

Emergency Response and Ongoing Recovery Efforts

Upon being informed of the incident, the Royal Gendarmerie promptly arrived at the scene to secure traffic flow, organize the movement of vehicles, and ensure the safety of citizens until the road could be reopened. Their swift intervention was met with appreciation from both local residents and road users. Additionally, the governor of the Al Haouz region visited the site personally to assess the extent of the damage. He issued immediate instructions to the relevant authorities to mobilize all necessary resources and efforts to reopen the road as soon as possible, thereby alleviating the isolation of an area that serves as a vital tourist artery connecting Marrakech to the scenic regions of Imlil.

As of now, efforts are still ongoing to clear the debris and restore normal traffic conditions. Authorities are urging road users to exercise caution and remain vigilant while traveling through the area.
