Official Inauguration of New Healthcare Centers
On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection officially announced the launch of 27 primary healthcare facilities across the regions of Fes-Meknes and Beni Mellal-Khenifra. This momentous occasion coincided with the celebration of the 27th anniversary of the Throne Day, marking a significant step in the enhancement and modernization of Morocco's healthcare system. These facilities have undergone comprehensive rehabilitation and equipping to ensure they meet the healthcare needs of the communities they serve.
Commitment to National Healthcare Reform
The inauguration of these healthcare centers aligns with the royal directives aimed at reforming and rehabilitating the national healthcare system, thereby improving the quality of treatment services and making healthcare more accessible to citizens. This initiative is part of the national program to rehabilitate a total of 1,600 primary healthcare facilities, with a target of 500 facilities set to be operational in 2026. This effort is essential in conjunction with the broader project of social protection and is expected to significantly enhance the quality of basic health services available to the public.
The Ministry highlighted that the health services in the Fes-Meknes region have been significantly bolstered with the launch of 25 primary healthcare facilities. In Fes, the first-level urban health center named 'Al-Masla' has opened its doors, while in Meknes, the first-level urban health centers 'Al-Mirjan' and 'Um Al-Rabi' have commenced operations. Additionally, the rural clinic 'Azra' has started serving the targeted population in the Sefrou province.
In the Taounate province, 12 healthcare facilities have become operational, including the second-level rural health center 'Wertzag' and the second-level urban health centers 'Tissa' and 'Taher Souk.' The region also gained additional first-level rural health centers, such as 'Al-Ratba' and 'Oudka,' along with the second-level rural health centers 'Amkansa' and 'Ain Mediouna,' and several rural clinics like 'Wad Lwan,' 'Lansar,' 'Draza,' and 'Dar Abkhati.' Furthermore, the first-level rural health center 'Kaysan' has also begun its services.
Moreover, the healthcare offerings in the Boulemane and El Hajeb provinces have been enhanced with the opening of five primary healthcare facilities. In Boulemane, the first-level rural health centers 'Oulad Malouk' and 'Al-Arjan' are now operational, while El Hajeb has benefited from the launch of the first-level rural health centers 'Iqdar' and 'Ait Bourzouin,' in addition to the rural clinic 'Boualozen.'
In the Taza province, four primary healthcare centers have opened, including the first-level rural health centers 'Kaldeman' and 'Bord,' the second-level rural health center 'Kaf Al-Ghar,' and the rural clinic 'Al-Tayfa.'
In the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region, two rural clinics have started providing services to the targeted population, specifically 'Sidi Mubarak' and 'Al-Aouinat' in the Khenifra province.
These health centers, which represent a new generation of primary healthcare facilities, aim to strengthen health services on a regional level and bring healthcare closer to the over 317,574 residents they serve. They are designed to meet the increasing demand for healthcare services, improve access and quality, while also enhancing the reception and guidance processes for patients.
In conclusion, the Ministry has equipped these healthcare facilities with high-quality biomedical equipment and has mobilized a skilled workforce of 125 health professionals dedicated to providing medical and nursing services. Patients will benefit from a diverse range of treatments, including general medical examinations, nursing care, chronic disease monitoring—particularly diabetes and hypertension—maternal and child health services, school health initiatives, health awareness and education, epidemiological vigilance, and mobile healthcare services.
