On Friday, the commencement of a significant road project costing 130 million dirhams was officially unveiled in the commune of Drarga, located in the Agadir Ida-Outanane prefecture. This initiative is primarily aimed at enhancing road safety while supporting the ongoing urban expansion within the region.

A Transformative Project for Drarga

Under the leadership of Saïd Amzazi, the Wali of the Souss-Massa region and governor of Agadir Ida-Outanane, the project encompasses the development and rehabilitation of a section of the Abbassiyines road and the entrance to the commune of Drarga. This endeavor is a collaborative effort involving the Wilaya of the Souss-Massa region, the commune of Drarga, and Al Omrane Souss-Massa, highlighting a concerted approach to fortify road infrastructures, enhance traffic flow, and accommodate the urban growth that Drarga is currently experiencing. Additionally, it aims to improve accessibility to surrounding areas.

Extensive Road Rehabilitation

According to Hicham El Faleh, the General Director of Al Omrane Souss-Massa, who spoke to MAP, the project will cover a distance of 6.4 kilometers and is expected to be completed within a maximum period of 18 months. Funded by the commune of Drarga, this initiative will focus on upgrading the road infrastructure, creating green spaces, and improving public lighting. These enhancements are designed to provide a better living environment for the residents of Drarga and to increase the appeal of this rapidly developing area.

The official launch ceremony for this project was attended by the president of the commune of Drarga and representatives from the relevant decentralized services. This event signifies a crucial milestone in the development of infrastructure in Drarga, which has witnessed significant demographic and urban growth in recent years.

This project is part of a broader strategy to improve infrastructure in the Souss-Massa region, aimed at enhancing road connectivity and supporting the urban expansion of peripheral municipalities surrounding Agadir. It also aligns with the national strategy for the development of road infrastructures and land management, facilitating access to essential services and improving the quality of life for citizens.
