Launch of National Vocational Training Program in Traditional Crafts Sector

On Friday, June 12, 2026, the State Secretariat responsible for Traditional Crafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, alongside the Ministry of Economic Integration, Small Enterprises, Employment, and Skills, officially launched the National Vocational Training Program in the Traditional Crafts sector at the Training and Qualification Center for Traditional Crafts in Marrakech. This significant event was attended by esteemed officials including Younes Skouri, the Minister of Economic Integration, and Lahcen Saadi, the State Secretary in charge of Traditional Crafts and the Social Economy, along with various institutional partners, professionals, and representatives from the respective ministries, as well as the Deputy Mayor of Marrakech.

The launch is part of the implementation of the National Vocational Training Program for Traditional Crafts, which is derived from a contractual agreement between the two ministries for the period 2026-2030. This program aims to train 30,000 trainees annually across various productive and service-oriented crafts, ultimately reaching a target of 150,000 beneficiaries by 2030. The program employs vocational training as a mechanism for integration and qualification, facilitating the acquisition of practical skills among youth within the workshops of traditional artisans. This training is complemented by pedagogical support within specialized training institutions, utilizing a system that combines both theoretical and practical training.

This strategic initiative also aims to strengthen the transfer of expertise and knowledge associated with Moroccan traditional crafts, ensuring the continuity of these professions across generations. Moreover, it contributes to enhancing employment opportunities and boosting the competitiveness of the sector, which is recognized as one of the key pillars of the national economy.
