Initiation of Urban Forest Development
On April 15, 2026, the Governor of the Marrakech-Safi region, alongside the Prefect of the Safi Province and the President of the Marrakech-Safi Regional Council, officially launched the development works of the urban forest named "Al-Arar." This initiative is part of a field visit aimed at inspecting several strategic and foundational projects designed to enhance infrastructure and bolster the economic attractiveness of the Safi Province. The event was attended by elected council leaders, security heads, and various officials from external services.
Environmental Project to Improve Urban Quality of Life
This environmental project, covering an area of 22 hectares, is geared towards enhancing green spaces and improving the quality of urban life. It aims to establish modern facilities for recreation and sports, which will contribute to maintaining the ecological balance of the city. For this project, a financial allocation of nearly 14 million dirhams has been set aside.
In conjunction with this visit, a comprehensive working meeting was held at the Office Cherifien des Phosphates in Safi. The meeting focused on presenting detailed reports about the major ongoing projects in the area. Key projects highlighted included the seawater desalination project, which will supply the city of Marrakech with potable water sourced from the desalination plant in Safi, as well as the new Atlantic port and the industrial program of the Office, particularly the (SPH) and (Corridor) projects.
The official delegation also conducted a field tour to closely observe the progress of these projects and evaluate their economic and social impacts on both local and regional levels. These undertakings fall under an integrated developmental vision aimed at supporting the economic dynamics of the Safi Province, thereby strengthening its position within the Marrakech-Safi region as a promising hub for sustainable development.
