LEONI Launches New Industrial Unit in Bouskoura
On June 11, LEONI announced the commencement of construction for its new industrial unit located in Bouskoura, Casablanca. Spanning nearly 35,000 square meters, this new facility is designed to support the growth of the company’s activities with major global automotive manufacturers. With this expansion, LEONI will increase its production units in Morocco to a total of 12, reinforcing its commitment to the region.
Having established a presence in Morocco since 1971, LEONI currently employs approximately 20,000 individuals across 11 production sites in Bouskoura, Berrechid, Bouznika, Agadir, and Casablanca. This extensive workforce highlights the company’s significant investment in the local economy and its role in the automotive sector.
Strengthening Local Integration and Global Positioning
During the inauguration ceremony, Ryad Mezzour, the Minister of Industry and Trade, emphasized that this project aligns with Morocco's strategy to enhance local integration and solidify the country’s position within global value chains. He noted that LEONI’s decision to establish a twelfth factory in Morocco is a testament to the confidence that international automotive players have in the Moroccan industry.
This initiative is part of an investment agreement signed in 2023 between LEONI and the Moroccan government, which encompasses an industrial development program worth over 932 million dirhams. Earlier in January 2025, the company inaugurated a production site in Agadir, representing an investment of 230 million dirhams, aimed at creating more than 3,000 direct jobs in the future.
The new industrial complex will incorporate next-generation production capabilities along with a training center and an innovation, research, and development center dedicated to automotive wiring technologies. Hicham Hannioui, Country Manager of LEONI Wiring Systems Morocco, highlighted that the company’s growth reflects Morocco’s strategic importance to LEONI and the business’s confidence in the country’s economic environment. Investments in talent, innovation, and operational excellence are crucial in enhancing the competitiveness of the national automotive sector.
Andreas Krifka, Chief Financial Officer of LEONI, reiterated that Morocco plays a central role in the company’s long-term growth strategy. He stated that this new unit would enable continued investments in industrial capabilities, innovation, and sustainability. Anis Kammoun, Chief Operations Officer of LEONI Wiring Systems, further asserted that this project marks a significant milestone in the development of the group's industrial footprint in North Africa and illustrates Morocco's strategic role in its international industrial framework.
