LEVA Hotels Makes Its Mark in North Africa with the Launch of LEVA Casablanca
In a significant development for the hospitality sector, LEVA Hotels has announced its entry into the North African market by opening LEVA Casablanca. Set to launch this summer through a management agreement with Ares Invest, the hotel is strategically positioned to cater to the increasing demand for modern hospitality solutions in Morocco. The property, formerly known as the Washington Hotel, is located in the vibrant Mers Sultan district and will be undergoing a phased refurbishment starting June 1, 2026, ensuring it remains operational throughout the transformation process.
With a total of 106 rooms, this four-star hotel is poised to become a design-centric lifestyle destination that reflects the rich history and cultural vibrancy of Casablanca. The hotel, originally constructed in 1953, is noted for its modernist architecture and features such as an 8th-floor panoramic bar. This renovation will honor the hotel's legacy while introducing contemporary design elements, including art-inspired interiors and state-of-the-art technology. The establishment will also feature public spaces designed for social interaction, such as lobby lounges that will serve as co-working environments, an all-day dining area fostering community engagement, and a revamped rooftop sky bar.
LEVA Casablanca is strategically aligned with the booming tourism sector in Morocco, which welcomed a record 17.4 million visitors in 2024 and aims to attract 26 million by 2030. This growth is supported by the Moroccan government’s tourism roadmap for 2023-2026 and the country’s role as a co-host for the FIFA World Cup 2030. As a result, there is a burgeoning need for modern accommodations that meet the evolving preferences of travelers.
JS Anand, the Founder and CEO of LEVA Hotels, emphasized the significance of this move, stating, “Expanding into Casablanca is a strategic step in LEVA Hotels' global growth journey and a key gateway into North Africa. Casablanca offers the right mix of business demand, connectivity, and cultural energy, aligning perfectly with our focus on high-potential, evolving markets. This move reflects our strategy: enter dynamic cities early, create impact fast, and scale with purpose.”
Upon completion of the renovations, LEVA Casablanca aims to attract a diverse clientele, including international business travelers, design-conscious tourists, and long-stay guests. Additionally, the hotel plans to engage local residents through vibrant food and beverage offerings and community-driven events, positioning itself as a lively hub within the Casablanca landscape.
