In a significant diplomatic move, the Acting Foreign Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Taher Ba'our, has received an invitation from Egypt to participate in the sixth edition of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development. Alongside this, he has also been invited by Morocco to attend the official signing ceremony of an African agreement concerning the disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration of child soldiers.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Libya announced that the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdel-Aty, extended the invitation to Ba'our for his participation in the Aswan Forum, scheduled to take place on November 21-22, 2026, in the city of Aswan, Egypt. The forum is themed "Redefining Common Global Values: Africa's Active Role in an Era of Turbulence," and aims to gather senior officials, representatives from regional and international organizations, financial institutions, the private sector, academia, and civil society to enhance dialogue and cooperation in the areas of peace, security, and sustainable development.

The sixth edition of the forum will address critical issues, including sustainable financing, regional integration, infrastructure, food security, energy security, climate change, job creation, artificial intelligence, and the enhancement of the private sector's role. These discussions are pivotal in supporting the goals outlined in the African Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals, aiming to bolster African cooperation in addressing economic, security, and developmental challenges.

In another diplomatic development, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, has also invited Ba'our to the official signing ceremony for the African agreement on disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration of child soldiers. The signing is set to occur on September 23, 2026, at the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Morocco to the United Nations in New York, coinciding with the high-level segment of the United Nations General Assembly.

Moreover, Ba'our received a letter of gratitude from the Foreign Minister of Oman, Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi, in response to an invitation extended to him to visit Libya. The Omani Foreign Minister expressed his eagerness to visit Libya, which he referred to as his "second home," at the earliest opportunity. He emphasized his commitment to continue working towards strengthening and developing bilateral relations between Libya and Oman, highlighting that the enhancement of ties between the two nations reflects the depth of their existing bonds and the level of mutual respect and appreciation shared by the two brotherly countries. In closing his letter, the Omani Foreign Minister reiterated his thanks for the invitation and wished for the continued stability, prosperity, and flourishing of the Libyan state and its people.
