Lufthansa Partner Synhelion to Launch Synthetic Fuel Production Facility in Morocco
Synhelion, a Swiss company, has announced plans to establish a significant commercial facility for renewable synthetic fuels in Morocco. This initiative comes after the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Moroccan government, signaling a commitment to advancing sustainable aviation fuel production. The facility, which is set to be located in the southern province of Tan-Tan, is expected to produce an impressive 100,000 tons of synthetic jet fuel, diesel, and gasoline annually, contributing significantly to the country’s green energy goals.
To facilitate this ambitious project, Synhelion has already reserved land and established a local subsidiary, Synhelion Morocco. While the company has not yet disclosed specific dates for the construction start or operational launch, they are poised to leverage renewable energy sources and biogenic waste in their synthetic fuel production processes. This aligns with the global push towards reducing carbon emissions in the aviation industry and represents a crucial step in the transition to more sustainable fuel alternatives.
