On the morning of Saturday, August 1, 2026, a seismic event measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale was recorded in the region between the cities of Fes and Meknes, as reported by the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). The earthquake occurred at approximately 7:34 AM, with its epicenter identified in the Oued Jdida area, situated to the north of Meknes, at a depth of around 15 kilometers.
