Police Operations Result in Significant Seizures and Arrests
In a coordinated effort between the judicial police in Marrakech, Oulad Teima, Salé, and Inzegane, alongside the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, authorities conducted a series of successful operations on June 18 and 19. These operations resulted in the confiscation of a staggering 36,610 units of illegal fireworks and the arrest of five individuals suspected of involvement in the possession and distribution of these hazardous contraband items.
The first operation took place in Salé, where police apprehended the owner of a toy shop who was caught red-handed selling illegal fireworks. This raid led to the seizure of 15,265 units of the hazardous materials. Following this, the second operation in the Inzegane security district of Agadir led to the arrest of a 19-year-old man, during which authorities discovered 1,214 units of fireworks in his possession.
Subsequently, the third operation in Oulad Teima resulted in the confiscation of 10,000 units of smuggled fireworks, along with the arrest of two individuals, one of whom was caught in the act of distributing 15 electric detonators. The fourth operation, executed in Marrakech, culminated in the arrest of a minor who was found in possession of 10,131 units of fireworks, again showcasing the ongoing issue of illegal fireworks distribution.
All suspects are currently undergoing judicial investigations under the supervision of relevant public prosecutors, aimed at uncovering the full circumstances surrounding these cases and determining the extent of the criminal activities attributed to the individuals involved.
