Mamadou Sakho Expands His Real Estate Ventures in Marrakech

Mamadou Sakho Launches New Real Estate Agency in Marrakech

Former French international footballer Mamadou Sakho has officially launched his second real estate agency, "Sakho Properties," in Marrakech. This announcement came during his attendance at the fourth edition of Gitex Africa, a significant technology and innovation event held in the city. Sakho's initiative highlights the ongoing appeal of Morocco for international figures from the sports and investment sectors.

In a post on his Facebook account, Sakho, who previously played for Paris Saint-Germain and the French national team, confirmed that his new agency will focus on residential and tourist properties, which include apartments, villas, land, and riads. He is partnering with Youssef Koutari in this venture, aiming to capitalize on the vibrant real estate market in Marrakech.

The Real Estate Market Dynamics in Morocco

The decision to establish a business in Marrakech aligns with the robust activity in the local real estate market, particularly within the residential and tourism segments. Major Moroccan cities, especially Marrakech and Tangier, are hotspots for private investment transactions, largely due to their tourism attractiveness and economic positioning. Individual investors, including international profiles, frequently engage in projects involving mixed-use or tourism-oriented assets, making real estate a prominent entry point for entrepreneurial initiatives beyond traditional economic frameworks.

Sakho's foray into real estate is part of a broader trend among former African football players, who are increasingly diversifying their post-career activities. For instance, Mamadou Niang, a former Senegalese international and Olympique de Marseille player, has expressed interest in developing projects in Tangier, particularly in the events sector. Such investments illustrate a keen interest in Morocco’s structured urban markets and the tourism-related segments, demonstrating how these sports personalities are transitioning into various industries.
