Discovering Casablanca's Rich Heritage

On Sunday, a group of 50 Maqdessi children, aged between 11 and 14, participated in an enriching visit to several religious, heritage, and modern sites in Casablanca, marking the conclusion of the first phase of this year's summer camp organized by the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency. This initiative, themed "Beacon of Peace," is part of the 17th edition of the summer camp, held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, President of the Al-Qods Committee, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, specifically its Youth Department, from August 12 to 26.

This visit offered the Maqdessi children and their accompanying mentors an opportunity to explore the religious and architectural heritage of Morocco's economic capital. They were able to experience monuments that beautifully blend authentic heritage with modern urban and economic development—key aspects of the country's growth journey under the enlightened vision of the king.

From Sacred Sites to Modern Marvels

The tour commenced at the iconic Hassan II Mosque, where the children learned about its various facilities and listened to informative explanations about this remarkable religious structure, which exemplifies traditional Moroccan architecture characterized by meticulous craftsmanship and the authenticity of traditional arts. Following this, the group wandered through the charming alleys of the Habous district, a neighborhood that showcases the uniqueness of traditional Moroccan architecture. Here, the children discovered various Moroccan handicrafts, including weaving, silverwork, copper, and leather, allowing them to purchase symbolic gifts for their families.

Additionally, the itinerary included a visit to Casablanca Finance City, a modern financial hub that represents a different aspect of contemporary Morocco, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to modernization and development. This visit highlighted the dynamism of the Kingdom as it continues to progress along its path of growth and modernization.

The group also enjoyed a visit to the Aïn Diab Corniche before concluding their day at the Green City of Bouskoura, the final stop of the first phase of this year’s "Beacon of Peace" edition. Earlier, on Saturday, the children had the opportunity to tour the various structures of the Royal Guard at the Mechouar in Rabat, where they explored facilities dedicated to cavalry, sports activities, and music training, and witnessed several equestrian performances alongside a visit to the Royal Guard Museum.

Moreover, the Maqdessi children participated in a summer school program organized by the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency in Skhirat from August 12 to 14, themed "Through Technology, We Learn, Express Ourselves, and Create." This initiative aims to instill values of fraternity and unity by integrating Moroccan and Maqdessi children, fostering a spirit of cooperation and teamwork.

Starting Monday, the participants will travel to Tangier to commence the second phase of the summer camp, which will also include visits to the cities of Tétouan and Chefchaouen. Launched in 2008 under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, the summer camp for Maqdessi children is one of the annual social and educational programs implemented by the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency, aimed at enhancing the skills of children and adolescents, promoting cultural communication, and providing opportunities for knowledge and exchange with their peers in the Kingdom of Morocco.
