The judicial police of Marrakech have successfully dismantled a criminal network suspected of trafficking in nitrous oxide, commonly known as "laughing gas," and forging official documents. This operation unfolded in two phases and was executed with precise field coordination.
The first phase of the operation took place in the jurisdiction of Tassoultant, where two suspects were apprehended while driving a luxury four-wheel vehicle. Their attempt to flee was thwarted, leading to a thorough search of the vehicle, which uncovered a significant quantity of nitrous oxide, in addition to a series of international passports, national identity cards, and vehicle registration documents that strongly raised suspicions of forgery.
Initial investigations and confessions from the detainees pointed to the involvement of a foreign partner who is considered a key member of the network. Consequently, a well-coordinated sting operation was executed near Victor Hugo School in the Gueliz district, resulting in the apprehension of this individual inside a car belonging to a rental agency. Authorities seized substantial amounts of money in European currency, additional suspicious passports, and mobile phones intended for communication with other associates.
The suspects have been placed under judicial investigation, which is being conducted under the direct supervision of the competent public prosecutor. This investigation aims to trace the potential extensions of this network and to identify all individuals involved, as part of ongoing efforts to combat organized crime and the distribution of harmful substances to public health.
