In celebration of the 27th anniversary of His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s ascension to the throne, the city of Marrakech witnessed the launch and inauguration of a series of new development projects on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. This initiative reflects the ongoing dynamism of the city in enhancing its infrastructure and improving cultural, educational, and social services.
The governor of the Marrakech-Safi region, alongside local officials, security heads, and representatives of decentralized services, presided over the inauguration and commencement of several developmental projects aimed at improving public service quality, enhancing local development indicators, and responding to the expectations of the residents.
The official delegation commenced the inauguration program by opening the Arts Gallery at the Daoudiat Cultural Center, a project completed under the "Marrakech... the Renewed City" agreement, with an investment of 13 million dirhams. This cultural space is anticipated to serve as a new platform for hosting exhibitions and artistic activities, supporting creativity, and enhancing the cultural influence of the city.
In the vocational training sector, the official launch of the reconstruction of the Specialized Institute of Applied Technology in the Green Mountain area was announced, with a budget nearing 17 million dirhams. This initiative aims to provide a modern institution that meets the demands of vocational training and aligns with labor market needs, thereby enhancing opportunities for youth integration into professional life.
Furthermore, the foundation stone was laid for the construction of the "Equity" secondary school, with a funding of approximately 11 million dirhams. This project is part of efforts to expand educational offerings, reduce overcrowding, and improve schooling conditions, thereby reinforcing the principle of equality of opportunity and enhancing educational quality.
On the social front, the governor and his accompanying delegation visited the "Our Children" center in the Al-Hassani neighborhood, which has been allocated a budget of around 6 million dirhams. They reviewed its various facilities and the services provided to children and families, recognizing its role in promoting social integration and providing educational and social support for targeted groups.
The visit concluded with the inauguration of the "Marrakech Relief - Al-Massira" project in the Al-Hassani neighborhood, with a cost close to 8 million dirhams. This initiative represents a new addition to social infrastructure by enhancing reception, care, and support services for beneficiaries, embodying the humanitarian and solidarity aspects of development programs.
These projects are the result of a partnership among various institutions and sectors, including the "Marrakech... Renewed City" agreement, the Office for Vocational Training and Job Creation, the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, the National Initiative for Human Development, and a private real estate investor. This collaborative approach aims to expedite the realization of projects that have a direct impact on the local population.
The diverse nature of these development initiatives underscores Marrakech’s commitment to implementing its development programs in alignment with the High Royal Instructions aimed at achieving balanced and sustainable development, enhancing cultural, educational, and social infrastructure, and improving public service quality.
