Marrakech Comedy Festival Set to Launch in June 2026

Marrakech to Host Inaugural Comedy Festival

Marrakech is gearing up to host an exciting new artistic event with the launch of the first edition of the Marrakech Comedy Festival, scheduled to take place from June 4 to June 6, 2026, at the Palais des Congrès. This festival aims to position the red city as a hotspot for comedy lovers and artists from around the globe, further enhancing its cultural appeal.

This festival reflects a vision to bridge the Arab and Francophone comedy scenes by presenting a diverse array of performances over three days. The event will feature prominent names in the field of comedy, all sharing the same stage in a celebration of cultural exchange and artistic experiences. The festival aims to enrich the Moroccan artistic landscape while bolstering Marrakech's reputation as an international destination for arts and entertainment, through a program that emphasizes quality, creativity, and an open spirit.

International Expertise Behind Organization

The festival is organized by producer Karim Debbouze, who brings over twenty years of experience in producing shows and festivals. He is joined by artist Malek Bentalha, who will oversee the artistic direction and host the evening events. Bentalha is a well-known figure in the French comedy scene, with a notable presence in theater, cinema, and television, which adds a professional dimension to the festival and enhances its aspirations for international acclaim.

The inaugural program is set to feature three main highlights, including a comedy show in Arabic on June 4, directed by comedian “Iko,” followed by two French-language shows on June 5 and 6, hosted by Malek Bentalha. Additionally, the program includes a variety of parallel activities aimed at enriching the audience's experience and adding an interactive element to the event, thereby increasing its artistic and cultural presence.

The festival enjoys extensive media support through partnerships with prominent institutions, including the second channel 2M, TV5 Monde, and Fnac Spectacles, along with special coverage from NRJ France featuring presenter Kami Kompal. Moreover, the event will have an exceptional broadcast on the Disney+ platform, marking a first-of-its-kind presentation of French-language comedy on this platform, thus enhancing the festival's international profile.

Festival organizers aim to establish this event as an annual fixture that contributes to reinforcing Marrakech's status as a capital of art and entertainment, providing the audience with a unique recreational experience that combines artistic quality with a celebratory spirit. The project also seeks to create a new cultural dynamic by offering performances that resonate with a diverse audience and contribute to the development of the comedy scene in Morocco.

Ticket sales are expected to begin on March 25, 2026, through the platforms Guichet.ma for Morocco and Fnac Spectacles for France. A complete list of participating artists and the full program for the inaugural edition will be announced later, along with anticipated artistic surprises.
