Marrakech Court Considers Case of Driver Involved in Fatal Accident
The Court of First Instance in Marrakech has made a significant decision regarding a driver charged in connection with a deadly traffic accident that resulted in the tragic death of a municipal employee from the Agmat region. During a session held on Wednesday, September 9, the court reserved the case for deliberation, with a ruling expected in the upcoming session scheduled for the following Wednesday.
The public prosecutor's office had previously ordered the detention of the accused, who was remanded to local prison after being arrested by the Royal Gendarmerie. The charges against him include public drunkenness, driving under the influence, failure to take necessary measures to avoid the accident, involuntary manslaughter due to a traffic incident, tampering with evidence, and driving without a valid license.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 10, when the victim sustained severe injuries as a result of the collision. She was swiftly transported to the Mohammed VI University Hospital in Marrakech, where she underwent emergency surgery. Unfortunately, the severity of her injuries led to her passing later in the hospital, highlighting the tragic consequences of reckless driving.
