Legal Consequences for Social Media Misconduct

The Marrakech Court of First Instance has delivered a significant ruling against the popular content creator known as "Kalamor." On Monday, August 17, 2026, the court sentenced her to ten months in prison along with a fine of 500 dirhams. Furthermore, she has been banned from using social media for a period of three years. This decision came after the initial session of her trial, during which she was remanded in custody pending trial, following her arrest related to content she shared across various digital platforms.

The prosecution initiated legal proceedings against her due to actions deemed as a public violation of morality, particularly following the dissemination of video clips and excerpts from a live broadcast that contained content considered contrary to public decency. The national police apprehended her at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca while she was attempting to leave the country, in coordination with local authorities in Marrakech. Subsequently, she was subjected to a judicial investigation and was referred to the prosecution, which decided to pursue charges while she remained in custody.

This ruling reflects the court's consideration of the allegations against her and establishes the associated penalties, which include both imprisonment and the monetary fine, along with a prohibition on social media use for the defined duration. The case has drawn attention to the legal boundaries for content creators and the implications of their online activities.
