Marrakech Court Ruling Against Social Media Influencer

On August 17, 2026, a significant ruling was issued by the Marrakech Court of First Instance, condemning the well-known content creator, commonly referred to as "Kalamour," to a term of 10 months in prison. In addition to the custodial sentence, the court imposed a fine of 500 dirhams and prohibited her from utilizing any social media platforms for a duration of three years. This decision came swiftly following the initial hearing of her trial, during which she was detained and subsequently housed in the local Oudaya prison, stemming from allegations related to content she disseminated across digital platforms.

The Public Prosecution had decided to pursue legal action against Kalamour due to her alleged involvement in acts that were classified as public indecency. The charges were precipitated by the release and circulation of video clips and excerpts from live broadcasts that were deemed to contravene public morality standards.

Authorities apprehended Kalamour at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca while she attempted to leave the country, acting in coordination with security forces in Marrakech. Following her arrest, she underwent a judicial investigation, which led to her referral to the Public Prosecution, resulting in her ongoing detention.

The ruling from the Marrakech Court is a reflection of the judicial system's stance on the behaviors attributed to Kalamour and delineates the penalties established by law, including the prison sentence, financial penalty, and the significant restriction on her social media activity for the next three years. This case highlights ongoing discussions around content regulation and the responsibilities of digital influencers in Morocco.
