Significant Drug Bust in Marrakech
On April 11, 2026, the drug enforcement unit in Marrakech achieved a significant breakthrough by apprehending a drug dealer who had recently been released from prison. The individual was caught in the act of possessing a piece of ‘shira’ (hashish) intended for distribution. Following this initial arrest, authorities conducted a thorough search of the suspect's residence, which yielded a substantial quantity of illegal substances. The confiscated items included 26.5 grams of cocaine and 81 slabs of shira, totaling an impressive weight of 8 kilograms. In addition to the drugs, law enforcement also seized an electronic scale and transparent plastic bags commonly used for packaging doses.
As a result of this operation, the suspect was placed under provisional detention, with the oversight of the relevant public prosecutor's office, to facilitate a more in-depth investigation and to prepare for their eventual presentation before the judiciary to address the charges against them.
