Marrakech Grand Stadium Undergoes Major Renovation Ahead of World Cup 2030
The Marrakech Grand Stadium is currently undergoing significant upgrades in preparation for the upcoming 2030 World Cup. A substantial contract worth over 1.26 billion dirhams has been awarded to enhance various technical components of the stadium, including electrical installations, digital networks, security measures, and audiovisual equipment. This ambitious project aims to modernize the stadium, ensuring it meets the high standards required for hosting international events.
According to the details from tender No. 03/GSM/2026/ANEP, the fourth lot of the rehabilitation program, which focuses on high and low voltage electrical installations, has been awarded to Lamalif Group for nearly 1.265 billion dirhams. The tender was announced on July 17, with the bid opening taking place on September 2. The expected duration for the completion of these works is set at 18 months, reflecting the urgency and importance of the renovations.
The renovation plan includes significant upgrades to the electrical systems, specialized lighting fixtures, transformation and power supply equipment, as well as substations and generators designed to ensure continuous energy supply to the stadium. This modernized infrastructure is essential not only for regular operations but also for emergency situations, ensuring safety and reliability during events.
In addition, the digital infrastructure will see enhancements aimed at improving connectivity and access control throughout the stadium. This includes the installation of IT and telephone networks, wireless connections, and advanced access control systems to manage entry to various areas of the venue.
Security enhancements are also a priority, with plans to install video surveillance systems, fire detection, and automatic extinguishing systems. Furthermore, dedicated sound systems for both everyday use and emergency situations are included in the scope of work. This comprehensive approach to improving security is vital for ensuring the safety of attendees during major events.
From an audiovisual perspective, the contract encompasses the installation of LED screens, display and projection systems, and equipment for conference rooms and television broadcasts. These technological upgrades are crucial for providing a modern and engaging experience for spectators and media alike.
Additionally, the project includes the implementation of a centralized technical management system (GTC), which will facilitate the supervision of various stadium equipment from a singular central device. This modernization effort forms part of a broader renovation initiative for the Marrakech Grand Stadium, which also addresses roofing, facades, stands, and various technical installations to adapt the infrastructure to the requirements of hosting World Cup matches in 2030.
