Marrakech Welcomes the Second Edition of GITEX Africa 2024
The vibrant city of Marrakech, Morocco, is set to host the second edition of GITEX Africa, which stands as the largest technology and startup exhibition on the African continent. This year’s event is anticipated to feature around 1,500 exhibitors representing over 130 countries, alongside participation from more than 800 startups. This significant gathering underscores Morocco's role as a key player in the tech landscape of Africa.
Trixie Jitex Lohemirmand, the General Manager of Con International, highlighted that GITEX Africa Morocco 2024 has exhibited an astonishing annual growth rate of 70%. This remarkable expansion positions the event as a catalyst for ushering in a new digital era across the African continent. She elaborated that the exhibition provides governments, entrepreneurs, and talent with unprecedented access to the latest information and expertise, thereby opening vast opportunities for digital collaboration. It also allows for active participation in crafting strategies and solutions aimed at societal development.
Artificial Intelligence Takes Center Stage
This year, artificial intelligence (AI) emerges as a central theme at the exhibition, as emphasized by the organizers. The immense and diverse capabilities of AI have the potential to transform various sectors, including cybersecurity, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, finance, telecommunications, agriculture, and education. This focus on AI fuels hopes for enhanced prosperity in Africa, the second-largest continent by population. Furthermore, the impact of AI on digital health has spurred the launch of the World Future Health Africa initiative, accelerating the digital health revolution across the continent.
