Marrakech Hotels Experience Surge in Bookings During Eid al-Adha

Marrakech's Rising Popularity Among Travelers During Eid

In a notable trend observed this Eid al-Adha, hotels and tourist destinations in and around Marrakech have reported a significant increase in visitor numbers and bookings, as highlighted by the online publication Hespress. This surge in interest can be attributed to many Moroccans opting to spend the festive holiday in hotels and resorts, seeking a respite from the bustling major cities while enjoying a relaxing and entertaining atmosphere, particularly as the holiday coincided with a rise in temperatures.

Industry sources indicate that numerous hotels and tourist accommodations in Marrakech, especially those located near the scenic areas of Sidi Ibrahim, the Ourika Road, and the Agdal region, have seen a remarkable uptick in family bookings. This trend includes families traveling from major cities such as Casablanca, Rabat, and Tangier, as well as Moroccans living abroad who chose to celebrate the holiday in their homeland.

The current Eid holiday has been instrumental in revitalizing the economy and tourism sector of the Red City, with a notable demand for classified hotels, guest houses, and resorts. Additionally, recreational facilities and private swimming pools have experienced considerable crowds, further reflecting the growing popularity of these holiday destinations.

According to professionals in the field, many Moroccan families are increasingly preferring to spend Eid al-Adha outside their home cities. This shift is particularly evident given the rising temperatures in various regions. Moreover, some tourist areas surrounding Marrakech, alongside rural accommodations that offer hospitality and leisure services, have also attracted significant interest from families seeking a short holiday that combines relaxation with nature.

In recent years, hotel units have been preparing in advance for this religious occasion by offering special deals tailored for Moroccan families wishing to celebrate Eid in a hotel setting rather than in residential apartments. Hamid Ben Taher, the President of the National Confederation of Tourism, noted that during such occasions, Marrakech's hotels witness a surge in bookings from Moroccan families, thanks to the attractive offers provided by local hotels.

Furthermore, Ben Taher mentioned in an interview with Hespress that hotels in Marrakech, during Eid al-Adha or weekends, are experiencing a full house with visitors from both Morocco and abroad. He emphasized the need to address the issue of low occupancy during the early weekdays. The same spokesperson urged the relevant authorities to expedite the construction of the exhibition center and conference palace to facilitate hosting global events, which could help hotels secure bookings throughout the week, as expressed by Hamid Ben Taher.
