Marrakech Police Take Down Criminal Network Selling Hazardous Gas

In a significant security operation, the Judicial Police of Marrakech successfully dismantled a dangerous criminal network involved in the distribution of nitrous oxide, commonly referred to as "laughing gas" or "death gas." This operation was executed under the direct supervision of the center's head, Younes Aakfi, who played a pivotal role in the action taken against this illicit operation.

According to exclusive information obtained by akhbarona.com, the operation began with a surprise security intervention conducted by police forces in the Tassaltant area. During this operation, two individuals were apprehended inside an expensive four-wheel drive vehicle, a Volkswagen Touareg, as they attempted to flee the scene. However, thanks to the vigilance of the responding officers, their escape was thwarted.

Upon searching the apprehended suspects, authorities discovered a significant quantity of canisters filled with nitrous oxide intended for distribution, alongside several passports, national ID cards, and vehicle registration documents suspected to be counterfeit. These findings raised alarm bells about the extent of the network's operations.

Initial investigations by the Judicial Police revealed the existence of a third accomplice believed to be the mastermind behind this criminal network. This discovery prompted the center's head to devise a meticulous plan to capture this key suspect.

Following a well-coordinated security strategy, the third suspect, who holds foreign nationality, was tracked to a vehicle rental agency near the prestigious Victor Hugo School in the Gueliz area. The police executed a professional operation that left no room for the suspect to evade capture.

Further searches conducted on the third suspect led to the seizure of a substantial amount of cash in European currency, additional suspicious passports, and mobile phones believed to have been used for contacting clients and facilitating the distribution of their hazardous products.

The Judicial Police of Marrakech continue their thorough investigations, operating under the oversight of the relevant public prosecutor's office and with direct monitoring from the regional police leadership, to unravel the full extent of this network and identify any additional potential perpetrators.

This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Moroccan gendarmerie to combat organized crime and tackle the troubling issue of dangerous substance distribution that poses serious health risks to youth, as well as addressing document forgery networks.
