Marrakech-Ménara Airport Recognized as Africa's Premier Regional Airport
The Marrakech-Ménara Airport has earned the prestigious title of Africa's best regional airport during the 2026 World Airport Awards, which took place on March 18 in London as part of the PTE World event. This accolade, awarded for the first time to Marrakech by Skytrax, highlights the growing satisfaction among passengers regarding the quality of services provided at Moroccan airports. The recognition also underscores the dedicated efforts of the National Airports Office (ONDA) as part of its Airports 2030 strategy aimed at enhancing traveler experiences, operational efficiency, and the modernization of national airport infrastructures.
According to ONDA, the advancements observed at Marrakech-Ménara in the global customer satisfaction survey conducted by Skytrax reflect the tangible impacts of reforms implemented in collaboration with various stakeholders. These include the Ministry of the Interior, the General Directorate of National Security, the Royal Gendarmerie, the Customs and Indirect Tax Administration, local authorities in Marrakech, and the Ministry of Transport and Logistics. Such collaborative efforts have evidently contributed to the airport's improved performance and customer satisfaction ratings.
Established in 1999, the World Airport Awards are among the most esteemed accolades within the global airport sector. Winners are determined based on the largest passenger satisfaction survey worldwide, which encompasses over 565 airports and gathers feedback from travelers of more than 100 nationalities, conducted from August 2025 to early February 2026.
