Marrakech Menara Airport has been awarded the title of Best Regional Airport in Africa for 2026 during the prestigious Skytrax World Airport Awards held in London. The announcement was made by the National Airports Office, which highlighted that this recognition marks a significant milestone in the ongoing improvement of Moroccan airports and confirms the success of the transformation strategy initiated under the "Airports 2030" plan.
The award was presented on March 18, 2026, during the PTE World event in London, underscoring the international acknowledgment of the increasing satisfaction among travelers regarding the quality of services and experiences provided at Moroccan airports. This achievement is attributed to the collaborative efforts of the National Airports Office and various partners, including the Ministry of Interior, the General Directorate of National Security, the Royal Gendarmerie, the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration, and local authorities in Marrakech, as well as the Ministry of Transport and Logistics.
This recognition not only strengthens Marrakech Menara Airport's position as one of the top-performing airports in Africa but also reaffirms its role as a key gateway to Morocco. It has gained increasing recognition from international travelers who commend the quality of hospitality, the seamless passenger journey, and the efficiency of operational services. This acknowledgment fits within the dynamic transformation led by the National Airports Office through its "Airports 2030" strategy, which centers on passenger experience, operational performance, and infrastructure modernization as core components of developing the national airport network.
The Skytrax World Airport Awards, launched in 1999, are among the most prestigious awards in the global airport industry. Winners are selected based on the largest international survey assessing passenger satisfaction, evaluating the quality of services and infrastructure at over 565 airports worldwide. The study relies on questionnaires filled out by travelers from more than 100 nationalities, conducted from August 2025 to early February 2026.
