Marrakech Menara Airport Sees Significant Growth in Passenger Traffic

Marrakech Menara Airport Achieves Remarkable Passenger Growth in Early 2026

Marrakech Menara Airport has further solidified its status as one of Morocco's premier aviation hubs, showcasing a substantial increase in air traffic during the initial months of 2026. According to data released by the National Airports Office, the number of passengers traveling through the airport reached approximately 1.77 million by the end of February this year, reflecting a notable growth rate of 10.40% compared to the same period in 2025, when the traffic was considerably lower.

The detailed statistics revealed that Marrakech Menara Airport welcomed a total of 1,769,912 passengers during January and February 2026, up from 1,603,193 passengers during the same timeframe last year. This increase underscores the ongoing positive momentum within the tourism and aviation sectors in the vibrant city of Marrakech.

Further analysis of the traffic distribution by flight type indicates a clear dominance of international routes, which accounted for the majority of air traffic. International passengers totaled 1,700,720, marking a growth of 9.76%. Conversely, domestic flights also experienced significant growth, with passenger numbers rising to 69,192, demonstrating an impressive increase of 28.98%.

In February alone, the airport recorded a robust flow of 899,058 passengers, representing a 7.44% increase compared to the same month in 2025, reinforcing the sustained demand for Marrakech as a sought-after tourist destination.

Among the most active airline routes during February, the Marrakech–Paris Orly route topped the list of popular destinations, followed closely by the Casablanca–Jeddah route, then the Casablanca–Paris Orly route, as well as the Marrakech–London Gatwick and Marrakech–Paris Charles de Gaulle routes.

These indicators reflect the continued appeal of Marrakech Menara Airport as a key air gateway connecting the city with numerous European and Arab capitals, particularly in the context of a resurgence in international tourism.

On a national scale, Moroccan airports have also reported positive performance, with total air traffic reaching approximately 5.9 million passengers by the end of February 2026, achieving a growth rate of 7.91% compared to the previous year. This performance is attributed to an increase in travelers on international flights, which totaled 5.3 million, rising by 8.18%, alongside 600,867 travelers on domestic routes, representing a growth of 5.60%. Such trends indicate a general recovery in Morocco's aviation sector.
