Marrakech Police Crack Down on Drug Trafficking

In a meticulously conducted operation, the urban police department of the Gueliz security area in Marrakech successfully apprehended a suspect believed to be involved in drug trafficking during the early hours of Friday, August 7, 2026. The suspect, a man in his forties, was arrested in the Douar Zmarn area of the Tazlitan commune. Initial searches led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of "shira" (hashish), weighing approximately one kilogram.

Following the initial arrest, and under the directives of the competent public prosecutor's office, police officers proceeded to the suspect's residence located in Douar Harsh within the Tamesloht commune in the Al Haouz province. This thorough search resulted in the discovery of an additional two kilograms of hashish, bringing the total confiscated amount to an impressive three kilograms.

The suspect has been placed in police custody while an investigation is underway, overseen by the public prosecutor's office, to uncover all circumstances surrounding this case. Authorities are also working to identify any potential connections to this criminal activity and to apprehend any accomplices involved.
