Arrests Made Following Tourist Extortion Incident in Marrakech

The police department in Marrakech has taken swift and serious action regarding a recent incident involving two individuals who were caught on video allegedly harassing and attempting to extort foreign tourists. This video, which circulated widely on instant messaging platforms, depicted the suspects verbally abusing the tourists and attempting to defraud them under the pretense of offering car washing and guarding services on the street.

According to a security source, extensive investigations were initiated based on the video footage, leading to the identification of the two suspects. They were apprehended on the evening of October 2, 2026, as a result of thorough field inquiries and technical tracking conducted by the police.

The authorities are currently holding the suspects in custody while a judicial investigation is underway, supervised by the relevant public prosecutor's office.
