Marrakech Police Crack Down on Illegal Parking Attendants

Significant Police Action Against Illegal Parking in Marrakech

In a recent operation aimed at maintaining public order in Marrakech, local law enforcement successfully apprehended 17 individuals who were illegally operating as parking attendants in the city’s streets. This initiative, carried out by the Field Research Unit, took place late last Friday and is part of a broader effort to enhance safety and aesthetics in urban areas. Alongside these arrests, police also detained 18 individuals for public intoxication, 8 for soliciting corruption, and 17 for begging. The crackdown extended to include four individuals accused of homelessness and four undocumented migrants from Sub-Saharan Africa.

The operation has garnered widespread approval from the local populace, who expressed their support for the initiative aimed at cleaning up public spaces and addressing behaviors that detract from the urban environment. Citizens have called for the continuation and expansion of such efforts to encompass various security zones across Marrakech, highlighting the community's desire for a safer and more orderly city.
