As of the end of May 2026, Marrakech has recorded an impressive 6.05 million overnight stays in classified tourist accommodations, marking a significant 10% increase compared to the same period in 2025. According to the Tourism Observatory, Marrakech accounted for a substantial 33% of the total overnight stays across Morocco during the first five months of the current year. The occupancy rate in the classified tourist accommodations of Marrakech stood at a commendable 72% by the end of May, maintaining a steady level when compared to the previous year.
In May alone, the city’s accommodations welcomed over 1.3 million overnight stays, which represents a 9% increase from the same month in 2025. The occupancy rate for May reached an impressive 78%, indicating a robust demand for tourist services in the region. This growth is not only beneficial for the local economy but also highlights Marrakech’s resilience in the face of global tourism challenges.
On a national scale, Morocco's classified tourist accommodations reported a total of 18.1 million overnight stays by the end of May 2026, marking a 9% increase compared to the prior year. The national occupancy rate also saw an improvement, rising to 56%, which is a point higher than the previous year, showcasing a broader recovery in the tourism sector.
