According to the Tourism Observatory, Marrakech accounted for a substantial 33% of the total overnight stays across Morocco during the first five months of the current year. The occupancy rate in the classified tourist accommodations of Marrakech stood at a commendable 72% by the end of May, maintaining a steady level when compared to the previous year.
In May alone, the city’s accommodations welcomed over 1.3 million overnight stays, which represents a 9% increase from the same month in 2025. The occupancy rate for May reached an impressive 78%, indicating a robust demand for tourist services in the region. On a national scale, Morocco's classified tourist accommodations reported a total of 18.1 million overnight stays by the end of May 2026, marking a 9% increase compared to the prior year. The national occupancy rate also saw an improvement, rising to 56%, which is a point higher than the previous year, showcasing a broader recovery in the tourism sector.
