The city of Marrakech has reported a significant uptick in the number of overnight stays at classified tourist accommodations, reaching nearly 2.125 million nights by the end of February 2026. This represents a 5% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Despite a slight decrease in the occupancy rate to 62% during the first two months of the year, down by 2 percentage points from the previous year, Marrakech continues to solidify its status as a leading tourist destination in Morocco.
As a premier travel hub, Marrakech accounted for 34% of all overnight stays recorded nationwide by the end of February 2026, showcasing its pivotal role in driving Moroccan tourism. Specifically, in February alone, the city’s classified tourist accommodations totaled 1.073 million nights, marking a 3% increase from February 2025. This growth highlights the resilience of the destination amidst a fluctuating global tourism landscape.
For the month of February, the occupancy rate in Marrakech was noted at 66%, which is a slight decrease of 1 point compared to the same month in the previous year. On a national scale, the total number of overnight stays in classified tourist accommodations reached 6.302 million by the end of February 2026, indicating a 4% annual rise and reflecting a generally positive trend in the tourism sector. However, it is worth mentioning that nationwide, February's figures fell to 2.993 million, a 4% decline from February 2025, suggesting varying performance across different destinations and market segments.
