The National School of Mines in Rabat (ENSMR), through its Sports Committee and under the auspices of the Student Association, is set to host the third edition of the Sports Forum on June 27 in Marrakech. Scheduled to take place at the Valeria Hotel, this event is organized in partnership with Karim Cherif Alami and aims to bring together students, experts, professionals, and institutional actors to discuss the critical issues surrounding sports, innovation, and tourism.
This year’s forum will revolve around the theme "The Legacy of a Passion, the Vision of a Kingdom: Sports, Innovation & Tourism at the Dawn of Morocco’s Radiance." The objective is to shed light on the increasing interactions between these three sectors and their contributions to the economic, social, and territorial development of the Kingdom.
A Platform for Reflection on Sports and Development
According to the organizers, the forum is intended to be a space for exchange and sharing experiences among students, institutional leaders, sports professionals, entrepreneurs, and experts from various fields. Discussions will particularly focus on the evolution of the sports sector, its role in promoting innovation, and its impact on Morocco’s tourism attractiveness.
The presentation dossier emphasizes that sports are now viewed as a lever for social transformation, cohesion, and openness, as well as a catalyst for economic and tourist development. In this light, the forum aims to explore the opportunities presented by the convergence of sports, innovation, and tourism, especially in the context of the significant sporting events that Morocco is preparing to host.
An Event Driven by the Dynamics of the Mines Rabat Olympics
The Sports Forum is part of the Mines Rabat Olympics (OMR), an annual student event organized by the ENSMR Sports Committee. The organizers tout this event as one of the highlights of student life at the institution, bringing together students from various prestigious schools around sports, cultural, and academic activities.
The media dossier points out that the Mines Rabat Olympics are structured around several key moments, including an opening conference dedicated to the challenges of sports, a day of sports competitions, and a cultural evening dubbed "ENIM Got Talent." The event also features gaming activities and artistic competitions aimed at encouraging creative expression among students.
Each year, the Olympics attract nearly 7,000 participants, primarily young students, and enjoy significant media coverage at the national level.
In his introductory message, the president of the Sports Committee, Houdaifa Baala, emphasizes that Morocco possesses a rich sports heritage and a strategy aimed at making sports a vehicle for development and attractiveness. He believes that major infrastructure projects and youth involvement contribute to strengthening the Kingdom's position on the international stage.
Omar Oussouaddi, the director of ENSMR, highlights the role of sports as a space for meeting, sharing, and transmitting values such as effort, discipline, and teamwork. He considers the Sports Forum to be a conducive environment for exchanges on the evolution perspectives of the sector and innovative approaches that could contribute to its development.
Through this new edition, the organizers aim to continue the momentum initiated during previous forums, which have already addressed the connections between sports, tourism, architecture, and territorial development in light of the major international sporting events scheduled to take place in Morocco by 2030.
The leaders of this initiative view this meeting as an opportunity to reflect on the transformations in the sports sector and its growing role in the economic, tourist, and cultural radiance of the Kingdom.
