Significant Drug Seizure at Tangier Port
In a major operation early Monday morning, Moroccan National Police, in collaboration with customs officials, successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a staggering 1,140 kilograms of hashish at the Tangier-Med port. This significant seizure involved two international transport trucks, which bore both national and foreign license plates.
According to security sources, the meticulous border monitoring and inspection processes revealed that the illegal drugs were cleverly concealed within specially designed compartments among a load of electrical materials. The operation also led to the detention of the truck drivers, who are now under investigation.
Authorities confirmed that both suspects are currently being subjected to judicial inquiries, overseen by the relevant public prosecutor's office, aimed at uncovering all parties involved in this trafficking case. Investigators are also working to identify the potential national and international networks linked to this illicit activity, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to combat drug smuggling in the region.
