Crowds Gather for Spiritual Reflection in Mecca
On Tuesday, the Grand Mosque in Mecca witnessed an overwhelming influx of worshippers and pilgrims marking the commencement of the last ten days of Ramadan. The number of attendees surged dramatically in the circumambulation area and the external courtyards of the sacred site, demonstrating the profound spiritual significance of this period for Muslims worldwide.
The mosque's precincts filled with pilgrims arriving from various countries to perform Umrah and to engage in prayer, especially during the blessed nights of the last ten days. Authorities have heightened their organizational efforts to accommodate the substantial increase in visitors, ensuring that services and facilities are equipped to handle the surge.
Heightened Efforts to Facilitate Pilgrimage Activities
This phase of Ramadan is renowned for high attendance at the Grand Mosque, as hundreds of thousands of worshippers strive to perform prayers, engage in tawaf (circumambulation), and participate in Taraweeh prayers, all in a quest to attain the virtues associated with these sacred nights. In response to the growing number of visitors, organizing bodies have intensified their initiatives to facilitate the movement of worshippers during tawaf and Sa’i (the act of walking between the hills of Safa and Marwah), in addition to managing entry and exit points effectively. Moreover, thousands of iftar meals are distributed daily within the mosque's corridors and surrounding areas to cater to the needs of those fasting.
