Meet Mehdi Tazi: The New Leader of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises

Mehdi Tazi: A New Era for Moroccan Business Leadership

In a significant move for the Moroccan business landscape, Mehdi Tazi has been unanimously endorsed as the sole candidate to lead the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM). This pivotal decision reflects a strong consensus among business leaders regarding Tazi's capabilities to guide the organization during this crucial phase. The official inauguration is scheduled for May 14th, where Tazi will succeed the current leadership, following a tenure as the Deputy President since his initial election in January 2020 and its reaffirmation in May 2023.

A Promising Background and Vision

Mehdi Tazi, an alumnus of Télécom Paris Sud and holder of an MBA from INSEAD, represents a new generation of leaders making their mark in the insurance and financial services sector. His journey began at KPMG in France and eventually led him to become one of the youngest CEOs in the industry, taking the helm at Saham Insurance. Tazi's entrepreneurial spirit was further evidenced in 2017, when he acquired the insurance brokerage firm Beassur and forged a strategic partnership with the global giant Marsh.

His profound expertise has not gone unnoticed internationally; he has been recognized by Jeune Afrique as one of Africa's young leaders and maintained a position among the top ten economic leaders in Africa from 2014 to 2016, as ranked by the Choiseul Institute. With a wealth of experience in union representation within the Insurance Companies Federation and the CGEM, Tazi enters the presidency with ambitious goals: to enhance the competitiveness of Moroccan enterprises and unveil new growth avenues, bolstered by broad support from his peers in the business community.
