Meknes Approaches Completion of Its Grand Stadium
The Fes-Meknes Regional Council has recently approved a partnership agreement for the construction of a large stadium in Meknes, with a total budget of approximately 600 million dirhams. This ambitious initiative aims to enhance the sports infrastructure in the region in preparation for future football events, particularly the 2030 World Cup. The agreement outlines contributions from various stakeholders, with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation contributing 300 million dirhams, the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports providing 150 million dirhams, and the Fes-Meknes Regional Council allocating 100 million dirhams. Additional financial support is expected from the Meknes Prefectural Council and local municipalities.
A Strategic Move for Morocco's Sports Infrastructure
This agreement also delineates the responsibilities of the involved parties and establishes the mechanisms for project implementation and management. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has been designated as the project owner, while the National Agency for Public Equipment will oversee the project's execution. Abdellah Ansari, the President of the Fes-Meknes Regional Council, emphasized that the new stadium will significantly enhance the region's appeal, especially as Morocco prepares to host the World Cup finals in 2030. He noted that the Fes-Meknes region is likely to welcome several participating teams, making this project a strategic initiative that will bolster the region's sports and economic profile.
This development is part of a broader effort to advance sports facilities across Morocco, aimed at ensuring the country is well-equipped to host major sports events and improve sports infrastructure in various regions.
