The migrants currently residing in the beach area of Benítez were informed of their voluntary return option during an operation that aimed to transfer them to the Temporary Care Centre for Foreigners (CATE) for processing. An interpreter present during the operation clarified that these migrants were being taken to the CATE for registration purposes, not for expulsion, and that they could also apply for international protection. However, the stringent requirements for such applications have led some individuals to reconsider their options and ultimately choose the path of voluntary return.
Starting from around 9:30 AM, buses began arriving at the Tarajal border to facilitate the transfer of migrants from the beach of Benítez. Many individuals, whose exact numbers remain unknown, have decided to make their way back to Morocco. A robust presence of the National Police has been deployed to manage and organize the groups of individuals who have remained in the settlements and to oversee their transportation via bus to the appropriate facilities. These buses first directed migrants to the CATE for registration, after which they would be relocated to the Loma Colmenar reception camp, as confirmed by officials from the Ceuta Superior Headquarters.
