Military, Berkane, and Raja Triumph as Wydad Faces Defeat in Championship Battle

Round 26 Shakes Up the Professional Championship Race

The 26th round of the Moroccan Professional Championship has brought significant changes to the title race, as the Royal Army team reclaimed the top spot after a convincing 2-0 victory over Kawkab Marrakech. This crucial win was propelled by goals from Reda Slim and Ashraf Miso, allowing the military squad to accumulate 52 points, while benefitting from the downfall of FUS Rabat against RS Berkane. The competition for the championship trophy is intensifying as teams jockey for position.

Berkane Continues Positive Momentum

RS Berkane maintained their impressive form by securing a valuable away victory against FUS Rabat, winning 2-1 at the Grand Stadium of Fes. The match began with an early goal from Bassini in the first minute, but FUS equalized through Benjida. However, Mehari sealed the win for Berkane with a goal just before halftime. This success elevated Berkane to 50 points, placing them in second position, while FUS Rabat dropped to third with 49 points, further igniting the race at the top of the standings.

Meanwhile, Raja Casablanca achieved a vital win against Olympique de Khémisset, earning three crucial points in a match held at the Mohamed V Stadium. Ayman Barkouk opened the scoring for Raja in the first half, but the visitors equalized through Osama El-Daoui in the 60th minute, despite playing with ten men after the dismissal of their goalkeeper Bonaga. However, Osman Sakho netted the winning goal for Raja in the 81st minute, keeping their championship hopes alive as they also reached 49 points, tied with FUS Rabat.

In stark contrast, Wydad Casablanca's struggles continued as they suffered their third consecutive defeat, this time against Difaâ Hassani El Jadidi, who won 1-0. Osama Benchaoui scored the only goal in the 27th minute, securing three important points for El Jadidi and leaving Wydad stuck at 43 points in fifth place. This ongoing decline complicates Wydad's position in the championship race.

As the dust settles from round 26, the competition for the title is heating up, with the gap between the leading teams narrowing. Fans eagerly await the upcoming matches that will ultimately decide the champion and Morocco's representatives in continental competitions.
