MND Africa Launches in Morocco to Expand Internationally

MND, a prominent French industrial group specializing in cable transportation, mountain equipment, and recreational infrastructure, has officially launched MND Africa, establishing Casablanca as its headquarters. This strategic move marks a significant milestone in MND's international development, with cable transport accounting for over 50% of the group's revenue. Recognizing the potential of Morocco as both a gateway to Africa and a vibrant market in its own right, MND aims to leverage this position to enhance its operations across the continent and in the Indian Ocean region.

At the helm of MND Africa is Mehdi Caillis-Menadjlia, appointed as the Director of Development for Africa and the Indian Ocean. His primary responsibility will be to spearhead the group's projects in the region and manage responses to African tenders from Casablanca. This establishment is not merely a transient presence; rather, MND emphasizes that it represents a long-term investment aimed at fostering growth and development.

Exploring Morocco's Market Potential and Strategic Goals

Mehdi Caillis-Menadjlia elaborated on the reasons behind choosing Morocco, highlighting its unique market potential. He stated, "Morocco is one of the few countries in the world that allows a company like ours to develop our entire range of offerings." MND's portfolio includes not just cable transportation but also entertainment-related activities such as zip lines, Himalayan walkways, summer tobogganing, and artificial snowmaking. The country's diverse tourism sector, urban mobility challenges, and existing ski resorts present ample opportunities for MND's services to thrive.

Moreover, the Moroccan government is proactively exploring cable transport solutions, with several projects already in discussion, such as the cable car project in Tangier, which MND initially won before it was put on hold. Other potential projects include connections between Rabat and Salé and initiatives in regions like Chefchaouen and Azilal. Given these developments, MND sees Morocco as a pivotal base to launch its African operations, recognizing that the local market offers more than just isolated projects; it presents a wealth of possibilities for sustained growth.

With a small initial team of three, MND Africa is set to commence operations focused on commercial and technical responses to the African market. Caillis-Menadjlia stressed that while the current focus is on building a commercial presence, the evolution toward a more industrial and technical establishment in Morocco remains a possibility, contingent on the market's response to MND's initiatives.

MND's commitment to co-constructing projects with clients distinguishes it from competitors in the cable transport sector. By understanding and addressing specific client needs, MND aims to create tailored solutions that ensure successful project implementation and long-term satisfaction. This approach was pivotal in their previous successes in Tangier and recent projects in La Réunion, showcasing MND's dedication to quality and customer-centric service.
