Significant Impact of Medical Convoys in Fes-Meknes

The third edition of the multidisciplinary solidarity medical convoys, organized by the General Mutual Fund for Civil Service Employees in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, recently concluded in the town of Tahla, located in the Taza region. This initiative, which ran from May 4 to May 18, 2026, achieved a remarkable milestone, benefiting approximately 32,318 individuals. The project spanned six primary locations, covering various urban, rural, and mountainous areas within the region.

According to official data, participants were from diverse locations including Gafsai, Baa Mohammed village, Moulay Yacoub, Azrou, Missour, and Tahla, where thousands received a wide array of medical services. These services encompassed specialties such as ophthalmology, cardiology, pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics, dentistry, ENT (ear, nose, and throat), orthopedics, urology, dermatology, alongside screenings for diabetes and hypertension, laboratory tests, radiological examinations, and early detection initiatives for breast and cervical cancers.

A Comprehensive Range of Services Offered

These medical convoys, aptly described as a "mobile multidisciplinary field hospital," stood out for conducting 232 surgical procedures to remove cataracts, organizing mass circumcision events for children, and providing free prescription glasses, medications, dental prosthetics, and hearing aids. Ibrahim Al-Othmani, the head of the mutual fund, emphasized that this initiative highlights the importance of bringing healthcare services closer to remote populations. Several medical professionals, including Dr. Moaad Al-Alami, underscored the initiative's role in enhancing access to treatment and health awareness, particularly among vulnerable groups and residents of mountainous regions.
