Morocco's Mobile Telephony Market Reaches New Heights
As of the end of December 2025, Morocco's mobile telephony sector has achieved a remarkable milestone, surpassing 59.16 million subscribers. This figure represents a significant increase from the 58.28 million subscribers recorded just a year earlier, indicating a growth of over 1.5%. These insights were disclosed by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) in their latest quarterly dashboard report.
The penetration rate of mobile telephony has also seen an uptick, reaching an impressive 160.65% by the end of 2025, up from 158.26% during the same period in 2024. In terms of market share among operators, Wana Corporate takes the lead with 34.12%, followed closely by Medi Telecom at 33.59% and Itissalat Al-Maghrib at 32.29%. The majority of users continue to favor prepaid plans, which account for approximately 86% of the mobile subscriber base compared to a mere 14% for postpaid plans.
Voice and SMS Traffic Trends
The ANRT has also reported on the outgoing voice traffic in mobile telephony, which totaled 9.472 million minutes in the fourth quarter of 2025, a decline from 10.282 million minutes in the previous quarter. On average, mobile users spent about 58 minutes per month making outgoing calls, slightly down from 59 minutes in the third quarter. Additionally, outgoing SMS traffic reached 384 million messages during the same period, marking a decrease of 3.92% from the previous quarter.
In the fixed telephony sector, the number of subscribers rose to 3.22 million by the end of December 2025, up from 3.03 million a year earlier, reflecting an annual growth of 6.29%. The fixed telephony penetration rate among households now stands at 28.70%, with Itissalat Al-Maghrib leading the market with a 50.95% share, followed by Medi Telecom at 28.81% and Wana Corporate at 20.24%. Specifically, residential fixed telephony subscribers totalled 2.66 million, compared to 2.51 million a year prior, while professional fixed telephony saw an increase of 8.43%, growing from 520,000 to 564,000 subscribers.
Moreover, the Internet penetration rate in Morocco has reached 112.59% by the end of December 2025, up from 109.21% in 2024 and a notable increase from 74.1% in 2019, showcasing the rapid advancement of digital connectivity across the nation.
