Monir Laymouri Taken into Custody Following Voting Paper Scandal

Laymouri previously denied any knowledge of the arrest warrant, insisting that his trip to Spain was pre-planned and that he intended to return to Morocco on the specified date. This situation unfolds amidst an expanding judicial inquiry into the Al-Quds School incident, which saw a bag containing electoral papers being discovered on the day of voting, leading to the detention of several individuals, including officials and other parties involved.
Earlier, the public prosecutor announced in a statement that five suspects had been arrested, including the heads of two polling offices and their deputies, along with a fifth individual. Preliminary investigations revealed that the individual found with the bag was a deputy head of a polling office, who allegedly embezzled several electoral papers from within the office with the assistance of the head of the office.
The statement further clarified that the suspect placed the stolen papers in a bag and removed them from the institution, later attempting to return them to the polling offices in coordination with other suspects. Additionally, investigative findings indicated that the ink used on the confiscated voting papers differed from that used in the polling offices, adding another layer to the ongoing investigation.
